wow

A number of wow-worthy things right now.
1. It broke 100 degrees yesterday, 103 in my neck of the woods. The discomfort was added to by the surprising lack of breeze. West Seattle is surrounded by water, most of our summers are ruined by cold wind. But yesterday, of all days, the air was still. I left the safety of my air conditioned job to go to a movie. I watched The Ugly Truth...Not something I would have chosen on my own (I don't have a TV and thus, don't see previews, but any movie description that includes the phrase, "it's kind of a chick flick" is a no-no). I was promised hot guys and air conditioning, that was enough to sway me. The movie was funny, one of the male characters was lovely, and the air was cool. I recommend this movie for the ladies and for any man who needs to impress a woman in his life by consenting to see a movie that could be described as a chick flick. I am sure you will laugh, although I should warn you, the end is dumb. So hard for Hollywood not to ruin a movie by adding a plot.

2. In a week I leave for Peru. A woman from the gym brought in a photo album from her trip to Peru in the mid 90's. Our itineraries are strikingly similar, with the exception of the marathon. The pics are just lovely and reminded me very much of Ecuador. The colors and the clothing are so similar. My favorite pictures are the ones from around Machu Pichu. My stomach is swarmed with butterflies imaging what it will be like to run down the mountain into the ruins. In my fantasies there is a buffet set up right on top of one of the stone structures. I am having trouble thinking of any part of the trip other than the run. One reason is because it has been too hot to run here (of course that hasn't stopped me, but it has certainly slowed me down. I can't sleep much because of the heat either, so I decided this would be a taper week...although it is impossible to know what the weekend has in store for me...). And of course there is the ole elephant in the room, I have never done anything like this before. Not even a little bit.

Wow, again. I just ran spell check, exhaustion is murder on my spelling.
