what a morning

After a long painful run my least favorite thing to do is hurriedly shower, dress, inhale a protein shake, pack a lunch then rush off to work. And yet that is what I end up doing every Thursday, I just want to run till the last possible moment. Today was no different but I accomplished a number of firsts!
While packing myself a lunch I cleverly remembered that I will need extra snack food for the day. So I decided to make some popcorn (it is the only snack food I stock, and I use an air popper, lame, I know). While continuing the rest of my lunch preps I look over and notice that the bowl I am using is overflowing, so I grab another and attempt to quickly switch them. I end up knocking the lid of the popper off and popcorn starts flying everywhere. My brain stuttered back to life and offered the brilliant advice "just unplug the damn thing!" as the last kernel popped out. My faithful followers might be surprised to learn that this is my first time I have showered myself in popcorn.
Another first: I ran downtown today. I had a friend show me the route to the city from West Seattle. He has been doing this run for years and was able to make it a guided tour. We saw the fisherman bridge that is overwhelmed this time of year with salmon fishers. We saw one of so many over passes that has become a city of homeless. He pointed out a running store I was previously unaware of. It was quite the adventure.

And finally, today I logged my longest training run to date... 15 miles! I was tempted to keep going, take a longer route home, but as I mentioned earlier, I ran out of time (haha, cause I was running!) and had to get ready for work.
I am so tired...

Popcorn shower, is that the secret to you motivation and dedication? I must say i am very impressed at how hard you have worked and how far you have come!!!!!!!! :)
