New shoes

I may have had a few bad ideas again this morning. I left the house without coffee...I am now home and it is brewing, doubt I can finish this post without it. The second bad idea was putting all my hopes in a new pair of shoes. I have been running funny lately. Perhaps I always have, but it has become much more obvious now that I am logging longer distances with none of it on trails. I feel like my feet are flopping all over the place, I try to maintain my form and the muscles along outside of my right leg become fatigued. If I just let my feet do what they want, I can feel my right one rolling in and out, not sticking to the back/front motion that seems appropriate, and when it leaves the ground it does a funny little kick. (this is actually embarrassing to write...like you will all point and laugh at my right foot next time you see me running) Also, it feels like one of my toes starts losing feeling when the foot does what it wants. Perhaps it is time for shoe inserts.
The moral story: Soon it will be warm enough to run in skirts and no one will notice my feet.
There are two races a week apart that I am struggling to decide between. The first is the Yakima River Canyon Marathon on April 4th. I had long been thinking that this would be my first Marathon. Then I found out about the Sun Mountain 50k/25k the following weekend. Sun and Mountains, who could argue with that? Having had my mind set on the marathon for so long I have trouble giving that up. But in all honesty, I really don't enjoy running on flat roads all that much. It is more convenient for me to train on the roads because they are located in abundance right outside my front door. The mountains require a bit of a drive, and I haven't a car. We shall see...
